A Passion For Egypt
Wally Aziz, founder of Lazuli Group, is a Francophile and Egyptology expert, passionate about his country. The son of a cotton entrepreneur, young Wally dreamed of seeing his name on a cinema poster as a director... but his destiny was elsewhere. His passion for history and archaeology was shared with the groups of travelers he guided, using every Egyptian pound earned to one day buy his first Dahabieh—now a fleet of nine.
This philosophy guides everything we do. We believe in creating a perfect scene through an obsessive art of detail. We practice sustainable harmony with the Nile via solar power and water filtration. And we are committed to community & care, from our 'Sails of Knowledge' initiative to the fair wages and well-being of our entire crew.
Sails of Knowledge
In 2011, Wally Aziz created "The Sails of Knowledge" to bring a little sunshine into the eyes of children on the banks of the Nile... Each stop is an opportunity to offer books, notebooks, and coloured pencils, synonymous with learning, exchange, and knowledge..
Eco-Luxury
Sustainable development is a value dear to Lazuli. This starts with the design of our boats, with solar panels and wastewater filtration, and extends to our healthy, traditional cuisine, sourced from local, often fair-trade, businesses.
Unforgettable Journeys
Social engagement is at the heart of our company. We ensure that the salary of each of our 120 staff members can offer a true quality of life for their family. Lazuli is particularly proud to have Touhra on board, the only woman in a male crew.
